Prime Video Ads, Temus Expansion and Amazon AI Assistant unveiled

After Amazon announced advertising for Prime Video, the subscription models that advertisers can opt for on the platform are now following — we wonder what’s on offer? We also already know that Amazon will be launching in South Africa this year. Unsurprisingly, Temu is now following suit.
Updates: Amazon
As of January 31, the guidelines for product images will change. The product detail pages will have to include an image of the product on a white background, a second picture of the product in a related environment, and a third photo with information on fit and size. If Amazon has rejected the submitted images, suitable photos are automatically displayed by Amazon or various sales partners.

And: On the US marketplace, Amazon is testing the expansion of the field for generic keywords in the backend from 250 to 500 bytes. Previously there was one line in the backend; now up to 2,500 bytes can be entered in a maximum of 5 backend fields. This may be part of the strategy to create shorter titles, as more than 50 % of search queries are made via cell phones and Amazon is working on creating a better user experience. It remains to be seen whether this feature will also be tested in Europe.

Amazon is already using AI for customer questions
Amazon has introduced an AI-powered shopping assistant on its US marketplace that allows customers to ask questions about products.
- The “Are you looking for specific information?” section on a product page is now supported by AI in the app.
- It relies on the product details and reviews captured by a large language model (LLM) to respond with AI-generated answers to virtually any imaginable question.
- Example: Customers ask: “Is this shirt suitable for running?” This is followed by a text response that is intended to replace the reading of individual reviews by summarizing their information into features that are important to buyers.
