These are Google’s new shopping features

Google has launched a range of new features to provide a personalized shopping experience for customers searching for clothes, shoes or accessories.

  • Of particular interest: 20% of searches for clothing on Google consist of five or more words, which can mean that people have a specific idea in mind when they shop for clothes. Now they can bring these to life with the AI Image Generator and shop according to their ideas.

  • US customers are shown “Style Recommendations” when searching, which they can rate. They can also select brands that they would like to see more often when shopping with Google. A virtual try-on tool can also be used.

  • It remains to be seen when these features will come to Europe.

Amazon & Anthropic: Claude 3 AI outperforms ChatGPT

Amazon and Anthropic are deepening their joint commitment to promoting generative AI. As reported by the tech portal ArsTechnica, Anthropic’s chatbot “Claude 3 Opus”, which is hosted on AWS servers, has now surpassed GPT-4 for the first time.

  • The report refers to the “Chatbot Arena” rating portal run by users and researchers. The launch of Claude 3 Opus marked the first time that the top-rated tool in the ranking was not from OpenAI.

  • Chatbot Arena presents users visiting the website with a chat input field and two windows showing the results of two unlabelled LLMs. The user’s task is to evaluate which output is better. From thousands of these subjective comparisons, Chatbot Arena calculates the “best” models and creates a ranking list that is updated over time.
