  • In collaboration with the market research institute Appinio, Remazing has been conducting a nationally representative survey of 1,000 people in Germany, the UK, France, Italy, Spain and the USA every year since 2022.

  • The participants, aged between 16 and 65, provided us with insights into their buying behavior. The study sheds light on how consumer trends affect budget awareness and purchasing habits.

Amazon Lens: visual product search made easy

Amazon has integrated ‘Amazon Lens’, a visual search tool into its shopping app that allows customers to discover exact matches and similar items by uploading an image, taking a photo or scanning a barcode.

  • Customers can take a photo of a desired product or upload an existing image to find similar items on Amazon.

  • By scanning a barcode with Amazon Lens, users can go directly to the corresponding product on Amazon to compare prices or reorder items.

Google Lens becomes a shopping assistant

Google has introduced a new feature for Google Lens that allows users to get detailed product information, price comparisons and availability from online sources when shopping in physical shops.

  • By taking a photo of a product with Google Lens, users can instantly see reviews, prices and similar items. The function also shows whether a product is available in the current shop and enables price comparisons with other providers.

  • In addition to this innovation, the company is launching new shopping functions for Maps and adding further Google Pay functions ahead of the Christmas season.

Alibaba launches AI search engine for retailers

Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba has launched the AI-based search engine ‘Accio’, which can be used by small businesses in Europe and North and South America to purchase goods.

  • Initial tests have shown that the purchase intent of companies using the new tool is 40% higher than with conventional search engines, according to Alibaba.

  • Demos reviewed by CNBC reveal that businesses can find wholesale products – including an analysis of their popularity with consumers and projected profit – with a few simple text or image inputs.
