After lengthy negotiations, the “AI Act” has now been passed. General AI systems and models such as ChatGPT must meet transparency requirements prior to market launch, taking into account copyright, summaries of the data used to train the AI models and technical documentation.

  • Systems that pose a higher risk should undergo assessments and counter-tests and send reports on energy efficiency, safety and serious incidents to the European Commission.

  • In future, AI systems are to be divided into different risk groups.

  • The new laws are to be adopted by the beginning of 2024 and will probably not come into force until 2025.
