We would like to take this opportunity to thank our partners and customers. Without your great support, such a rapid development of becoming an international service and tool provider for Amazon and other online marketplaces would not have been possible.
From the whole team, thank you very much – here’s to the next 5 years! ?

This week, we have another reason to celebrate: We won the Best Retail Cases Award with our software tool Remdash! You can find more information about this milestone below.

Meanwhile, Amazon is preparing its three-week “Holiday Beauty Haul” in October and is putting even more focus on Sponsored Ads. Speaking of the Holiday Season, global supply shortages will likely continue until 2022…

Remdash wins the Best Retail Cases Award

Our Amazon tool Remdash has been awarded the Best Retail Cases Award in the category “Retail Technology”. Together with our customer Leifheit, we presented the ‘automated content upload’ as a unique feature of Remdash.

We are very pleased about this recognition – especially for our Team Tech, which is constantly developing Remdash with a lot of passion.

Updates: Amazon

Amazon’s beauty sales event in October

From October 4 to 25, 2021, Amazon will not run a second “Prime Day” after all, but a category-specific event instead: the “Holiday Beauty Haul”. The focus will be on perfume, makeup and skincare. Amazon has already contacted the relevant brands in this category. The cosmetics industry has seen a strong growth in e-commerce in recent years: online sales of makeup alone increased by 40% in 2020 compared to the previous year.

More Sponsored Ads in Amazon search results

According to research conducted by Marketplace Pulse, Sponsored Ads are increasingly dominating Amazon SERPs: while previously there were usually 2 to 3 Sponsored Products, there are now often up to 6 ads above the organic search results on the platform. The ads are thus becoming more important – but CPCs are also rising. This development is further supported by the large advertising budgets of Amazon FBA buyers.

New Amazon CEO Andy Jassy talked very positively about the topic of ‘voice search’ in a recent interview: He believes that customers will increasingly shop via voice control that will be included in Amazon TVs in the future. Typing and clicking, on the other hand, is “so circa 2005”. Jassy’s personal convictions could lead to a stronger focus and development of Amazon in this particular area.

Amazon’s Prime subscription has been made available to customers in the Swedish marketplace since last week. Members benefit from free and faster deliveries and special discounts. They also have access to Amazon’s Prime Video streaming service. We interpret the launch of the program as a measure against the strong marketplaces competition the e-commerce giant faces in Sweden so far – Amazon.se has so far rather fallen short of its own expectations.

Amazon to sell insurance to businesses in the UK

Amazon plans to offer insurance to small and medium-sized businesses in the UK. There will be a choice of three different policies for members of the Business Prime program, sourced from major UK insurers. Amazon has been working with Next Insurance in the U.S. since May 2021 – offering insurance in the UK is seen as a continuation of its activities in this area.

Updates: E-commerce

Cross-border trade on online marketplaces

In 2020, online marketplaces will account for 58% of total cross-border e-commerce sales in Europe at €115.4 billion. That’s according to a study by Cross-Border Commerce Europe. According to the study, Amazon contributed the largest share of cross-border commerce with €44.3 billion. Together with Ebay, the Seattle-based e-commerce platform accounted for more than half of the total volume.

E-Commerce growth in Europe

According to the just-published European E-Commerce Report, online commerce in Europe grew by 10% year-on-year in 2020 – to €757 billion in sales. The Corona pandemic in particular is cited as a strong growth factor. However, European e-commerce saw even greater growth in 2019: At the time, total revenues were 14% higher than in the previous year.

Bottlenecks in global delivery traffic will continue until 2022

According to estimates by port executives, global delivery bottlenecks will not ease until the summer or fall of 2022. On the contrary, the risk of long delivery times due to overcrowded ports and terminals will likely increase until the Chinese New Year in early February 2022. Many retailers would have already adapted to the situation by stocking more goods – however, logistics will probably pose a challenge again during the nearing Christmas shopping season.

What caught our attention

Instead of fixed product categories, “dynamic segments” can now be selected in the Advertising Console. These segments seem to be an automation for ad targeting by category. At the moment, only the “Similar to advertised products” segment is available for selection – your ad will then be presented to customers who have viewed the PDPs of similar products.
Targeting by dynamic segments initially sounds similar to “Custom Audience Targeting” to us – we are curious to see the segments in daily use.

Top 5 Amazon Keywords

These are the top 5 most searched keywords by country from September 19 – 25, 2021.

COVID-related keywords have disappeared entirely from the top 5 search terms again – instead, Amazon users are searching for Apple’s recently unveiled iPhone 13 and accessories. In the US and UK, preparations for Halloween are underway, while Germans are already searching for Advent calendars on Amazon.
