Remazing’s Amazon Merchant Survey 2022

For more than five years, we have been accompanying brand manufacturers on Amazon and other online marketplaces and helping them to write their success story. Through this survey we want to visualize the market assessment of many great companies.

In the first quarter of 2022, we surveyed 98 vendors and sellers on Amazon. The brands answered our questions around their development on the platform, divided into 3 topics: growth, investment, and expansion.

The results show continued positive development on Amazon. Despite multiple challenges, many brands on Amazon have positive expectations for 2022: 

  • 85% of respondents expect sales to grow on Amazon – and about half are confident that their Amazon-focused team will grow as well.

  • 65% of our participants plan to invest more in Amazon optimization this year. In addition, nearly all brand respondents are investing more in Sponsored Ads and some also in Amazon DSP.

Nonetheless, growth expectations are down slightly from our first survey in 2021. In particular, the expected increase in Amazon revenue of + 23% for 2022 is 10 percentage points lower than it was for 2021. Potential causes are worldwide insecurities and current challenges induced by COVID-19 and the war in Ukraine. These situations entail disrupted supply chains, potential oil and gas shortages, and changing buyer behavior which impact the e-commerce industry majorly.
