Remazing Increases the Visibility of Business on Online Marketplaces

Organic searches are becoming increasingly challenging, and at the same time advertising options like Sponsored Ads or Amazon DSP offer a multitude of new possibilities. Remazing is an international start-up headquartered in Hamburg, Germany, that wants to help companies keep track of their marketplace strategies.

One of the questions businesses have to ask themselves when it comes to Amazon is whether they want to sell their products as a seller or vendor, or in a hybrid setup. Organic searches are becoming more challenging, and Sponsored Ads and Amazon DSP are additionally attempting to reach potential customers outside of Amazon.

Remazing wants to help brands and online sellers gain an overview of the online marketplace, and choose the right platform strategy for their company. The Amazon specialized start-up sees itself as a new type of e-commerce service agency: companies can choose the in-house SaaS solution ‘‘Remdash’’, from varying services or both to sell their products across Europe or globally.

The start-up was founded and developed without financing, it is represented with offices in 5 countries and serves customers in 15 markets. The course of expansion is set to continue over the next few years.

Hannes Detjen, founder and managing director of Remazing, introduces the start-up in an Etailment interview.

Let’s be honest and not use any buzzwords – How would you explain this start-up to your parents?

Remazing helps brands sell their products online. We primarily focus on Amazon marketing, but we are now dedicated to helping brands sell on other e-commerce platforms as well.

To illustrate it even more: as with brick-and-mortar retail, our customers want their products to be as visible as possible on the shelf so that online shoppers can easily find them. We help place their goods on Amazon’s “digital shelf” and, with our team of specialists and our self-developed software, ensure that they are easier to find there, e.g. with automated and specialized content maintenance. All merchants on the platform have the problem that product descriptions and images, for example, can be overwritten unintentionally. The consequence is expensive ranking and sales losses. We help brand companies to ensure with just a few clicks that their products are always displayed as intended on Amazon.

How would you describe the business model to a potential partner in a tweet (280 characters)?

As a global partner of leading brand companies, Remazing helps its customers write their own e-commerce success stories in all markets relevant to their business. We fulfill this mission through specialized agency services and our own SaaS tool.

In total, we have been able to work with over 100 clients for a successful partnership since our founding. Among them are digital native brands such as Tonies, medium-sized companies such as MAM, Schöffel and Dorel, as well as larger corporations such as Henkel, Signify and Under Armour.

Who would you like to work with?

Brand-name companies from the electronics industry are always exciting for us, as most consumers use products from this category on a daily basis and there is thus great potential for online sales. Overall, however, we are open to almost all industries and brands. This includes all vendors and sellers who want to use our Amazon tool Remdash to create their own dashboards for monitoring their products.

Rremazing’s  software Remdash helps retailers monitor relevant KPIs such as content alignment, “retail readiness score” and customer ratings with customized dashboards.

What has been the most important insight since starting Remazing?

As founders, we quickly realized that the corporate culture and our own team are the biggest success factors for a start-up. We are proud of the fact that we have great cohesion and strong identification with our corporate values across all country teams. We provide our team members with targeted support for their career development, hold regular team events and maintain a close exchange of ideas.

In addition, we have found that automating manual tasks is incredibly important to leverage efficiencies, and that the leveraging of data is essential. That is why we have evolved from a pure agency in the beginning to a software company with our own team of programmers. For example, Remdash can help with KPI monitoring, since Amazon itself does not release much detailed data to merchants. Among other things, we have developed our own scoring algorithm that shows when a product is “retail ready”, i.e. optimally prepared for sale.

What success figure are you particularly proud of?

Of more than 90 great colleagues who give their all for our customers every day at 5 locations (Hamburg, London, Paris, Turin, Barcelona). We are equally proud of our high customer satisfaction, which we measure via the Net Promoter Score (54%). It is also expressed in the high “retention rate” (Net Revenue Retention, NRR) of our customers of 115%.

What headline would you like to read about your start-up in a business newspaper five years from now?

“Remazing is the #1 global partner for brand companies in online marketplaces.”
