Amazon develops realistic voice AI

Amazon is pushing ahead with AI research and has now developed an AI voice that closely resembles the human voice. There is also an important new requirement for retailers on online platforms: the submission of a self-certification.
Updates: Amazon
It seems that Amazon is currently testing the autoplay of product videos in the search results. If videos are available in the product gallery, they will be played automatically. Variations that can be found on the product detail page are also displayed directly in the search results and can be clicked through. It looks like both features are being tested in the app on the US marketplace.

Amazon voice AI sounds almost like a human
Amazon has reached another milestone in the development of an AI voice, the artificial intelligence that understands and responds to human speech. The latest progress shows a remarkable approximation to human speech patterns.
- Base TTS is said to be the largest language model to date and has been trained with over 100,000 hours of speech data.
- The AI achieves an impressive similarity to human sounds, making interaction with voice-controlled systems even more natural.
- With realistic voice reproduction, voice-controlled devices such as Echo speakers can offer a particularly seamless and intuitive user experience.

- Self-certification obliges traders to only offer products or services that comply with the applicable provisions of EU law.
- Consequences for retailers: if the self-certification is not submitted on time, there is a risk of fines and restrictions on sales on platforms.
- However, it is the responsibility of the platform to request this self-certification.

How AI could impact search engines
Gartner predictions show that search engine usage could decline by 25% by 2026 as AI chatbots and other virtual agents gain traction.
- Generative AI could become the replacement search engine, substituting user queries previously performed in traditional search engines.
- The usefulness and quality of content could still be decisive for success in organic search results.
- Content resulting from AI-generated output must demonstrate specialist knowledge, experience, authoritativeness and trustworthiness.
