Updates: Amazon Marketplaces.

It is now possible to upload 3D images directly in Vendor Central via the self-service image manager. While the 360° view of products previously required 72 images to be submitted via a case, now only up to 10 images are required. Whether the new function could replace the 360° view in the long run and thus facilitate the process remains to be seen.

In the campaign overview of the Advertising Console, it is now possible to see and directly adjust the Top of Search Bids for Sponsored Product Ads. This simplifies the process, as previously adjustments were only possible directly in the campaign.

On the British marketplace, we discovered a new brand store format with a variety of new modules. In addition to a size finder and 3D models with sliders, the design features a module that enables the simultaneous display of multiple videos playing at the same time, as well as other slide effects. The format is currently only available to fashion brands on the UK marketplace, but expansion to other marketplaces is planned for the coming months.

The US marketplace is currently testing a new method for managing the targeting of sponsored brand campaigns with topic-based targeting. Many keywords are generated, which are then assigned to the two preselected targeting groups, “keywords related to the brand” and “keywords related to the landing pages.” This change is intended to simplify the campaign creation process. The new feature is available via the Amazon Ads API.

On the mobile search results page, we have discovered a new representation of the size variations of a product. Here, the different sizes are displayed as sliders.

News: Amazon

Amazon expands Sponsored Product ads to third-party sites

Amazon plans to expand its Sponsored Product ads beyond its own platform to third-party sites such as Pinterest and BuzzFeed. The ads will be distributed automatically, without advertiser intervention, when Amazon believes customers may be interested in a product.

  • All ads link directly to the Amazon product page, allowing customers to purchase with just a few clicks.
  • Only in-stock products are displayed along with information such as customer reviews and Prime delivery promises.
  • Amazon has already expanded its Sponsored Product ads from search results to other areas of the platform. This innovation aims to increase visibility and sales for merchants.

New fee for merchants and price advantage for brands at product launch

In the coming months, Amazon plans to introduce fee adjustments and discounts for merchants and brand owners, thus not only offering more advantages, but also trying to strengthen its own position in the market.

  • Sellers in the U.S. who use the “Seller Fulfilled Prime” program (SFP, also “Prime by Sellers”) will have to expect an additional fee of 2% per sale from October 1, 2023. It is unclear whether the adjustment will also affect the European marketplaces in the future.
  • Brands selling newly-launched eligible ASINs via FBA are to receive an average discount of 10% from August 31, 2023. The discount is to apply to up to 100 units of eligible standard-sized items for 120 days, and up to 30 units of oversized items for up to 90 days.
  • Both adjustments are likely an attempt to make the FBA program more attractive.

Amazon’s own delivery service and fee for fast deliveries in the UK

Amazon plans to handle parcel delivery for external U.S. web stores that are not Amazon sellers, putting it in competition with UPS and FedEx. It also plans to charge a fee for Prime Saturday delivery in the UK in the future.

Amazon launches new page for product recalls

Amazon has launched a new page to provide customers with a centralized location for product recalls and safety information they have purchased through the platform.

  • In the event of a recall or safety alert, shoppers will receive a personalized email and alert in their order history that links to a web page with more information.
  • The innovation replaces the previous process where customers had to go to third-party websites for information. Amazon can now communicate directly and effectively with customers on this topic.
  • The new feature has only been introduced in the U.S. so far; it is uncertain when it will be available globally.

Amazon uses influencers for TikTok-style feed

Amazon is promoting its TikTok-style “Inspire” feed by paying influencers to create videos.

  • Amazon is asking influencers to create videos that feature multiple products in the same category for its Inspire feed, according to the report.
  • The initiative is limited to 35,000 videos and will cost the internet giant $875,000. At $25 per qualified video, however, the payment is well below the industry’s usual influencer fee.

News: E-Commerce

TikTok is reportedly planning to block external e-commerce links in order to direct users to its own TikTok store.

  • Accordingly, the purchase of products displayed to users in the app will only be possible via TikTok’s own e-commerce store.
  • In this way, the company, which has posted losses of more than $500 million in the U.S. this year, could boost e-commerce on the platform.
